The seafood microbiology laboratory is a Biosafety Level 2 facility.  This means research can be conducted using common foodborne pathogens.  This facility has all the equipment needed to culture and ID microorganisms.  It also has a small pilot facility space to support pilot level research with foodborne pathogens.  It contains a ultracentrifuge, microcentrifuge, Protean 2II gel electrophoresis units, themocyclers and nanophotometer.
